Hi everyone! My name is Maddie Eriksson and I am SO excited to be teaching fourth grade at White Oak for the second year! I grew up in Cary, North Carolina and attended all Wake County schools from elementary school to high school. Ever since I was in kindergarten, I knew that I wanted to be an elementary school teacher. I studied Elementary Education with a STEM concentration at NC State University.
After graduating with honors, I decided it was time for a change of scenery. I have dual citizenship for both America and Sweden (thanks Dad!) so I wanted to go somewhere new but still not too far from my family in Sweden. So in August of 2018, packed up my bags and moved to Prague, Czech Republic! For the last two years, I lived and taught in Prague and loved every minute of it. I started out teaching at a variety of schools, focusing on teaching English to all ages. This past year, I was a full time third grade teacher at an international school. What an adventure it was! Once the pandemic hit, my school went virtual immediately and we followed a full schedule through Google Meets and Google Classroom. Luckily, this helped me gain plenty of experience with online teaching.
Last year, I decided it was time to move home and be with my family. I have two older sisters, a brother-in-law, a new amazing and precious niece, wonderful parents and the sweetest Goldendoodle puppy, Nellie Bean.
